Hot chocolate and baking
A rainy-day pair: bake cookies, then drink hot chocolate while they cool.
You need
- 100 g butter, softened
- 80 g sugar and 1 egg
- 200 g flour
- 100 g chocolate chips
- milk and cocoa powder
- a baking tray and baking paper
Steps
- Heat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) and line the tray with baking paper.
- Let the child mix the butter and sugar, then the egg, then the flour and chips.
- Roll walnut-sized balls and press them flat on the tray, well apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges turn golden.
- Warm the milk, stir in the cocoa and serve it with the cookies.
You handle the oven and the hot milk; test each drink before a child sips it.
